The Community Services Division is proposing a Draft Municipal Alcohol Policy & Guidelines (MAP) for event organizers and permit holders hosting events on municipal property.

The MAP will provide staff, event organizers and permit holders with best practices that promote a safe and responsible management of alcohol at events held in municipal facilities and/or on municipal land.

The MAP will provide the foundation to a proactive citizen friendly approach to the appropriate oversight and understanding of the approval process, applicant responsibilities and conditions of use when hosting an event with alcohol in a municipal park, street or facility. The MAP will provide guidance to applicants on the legislation pertaining to the Liquor License Act of Ontario and specifically to Special Occasion Permits and liquor licensing.

Until January 11, 2021, the City of Sarnia is looking for community input towards the proposed Municipal Alcohol Policy. Please take a moment to review the information available on this page and participate in our accompanying survey.
