What's Proposed?

Official Plan Amendment (OPA) No. 16 is a city-wide amendment that supports the adoption of the Draft Zoning By-law and ensures consistency with the Provincial Planning Statement (PPS) 2024 regarding Employment Areas. Additional Official Plan Amendments may be needed in the future to further align with the Provincial Planning Statement 2024.

Official Plan Amendment

OPA No. 16 proposes the following amendments to the City of Sarnia Official Plan:

• To revise any policies which are impacted by changes to the Planning Act due to various Provincial legislation, including Provincial Planning Statement, 2024.
• To make updates to certain policies and maps of the Official Plan to align with the proposed Zoning By-law, including changes to Employment Areas and the Environmental Protection Designation in accordance with best available information from the SCRCA.
• To update references from the Provincial Policy Statement to the Provincial Planning Statement, as the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing has changed the title of this document.
