We are back! With City Council adopting virtual public meetings we are moving ahead with the Recreational Vehicle Parking proposal. It will be considered by Council on June 22 at 1:00pm. If you wish to participate in the public meeting please visit virtualsarnia.ca and complete a Delegation Request Form. If you have previously submitted comments through this page, or by email, this feedback will be included in the report to Council and as such, it is not necessary for you to re-submit your correspondence.

The public open house originally planned for Thursday, March 26th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. has been cancelled until further notice, as part of the coordinated municipal and County response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Please view the media release for further information.

On March 2, 2020, Sarnia City Council directed staff to consult with the public and prepare amendments to the City of Sarnia’s Lot Maintenance By-Law and/or the City’s Zoning By-Law to regulate the parking of recreational vehicles on private property, and to return to City Council for consideration.

It is proposed that recreational vehicles be permitted to be parked in front yard driveways during the spring, summer and fall – from May 1st of each year through to October 31st of each year (see RV Parking - Proposed Changes).

The proposal also recommends that from November 1st of each year through to April 30th of each year, all recreational vehicles would then be required to be stored in a rear yard or a side yard in residential areas, as is the requirement today. As such, where a property cannot accommodate a recreational vehicle because of a property limitation, the owner would be required to find private storage for it off-site.
