Secondary Dwelling Units

Welcome back! On December 9, 2019, City Council approved By-law 177 of 2019 to permit secondary dwelling units in any single detached, semidetached or multiple attached dwelling in all Urban Residential 1 (UR1) zones. At this time Council also approved the following amendment that staff be directed to report back regarding the inclusion of properties with septic systems.

It is proposed that changes to the Zoning By-law be made to permit secondary dwelling units in single detached dwellings on partial services in the Suburban Residential (SR1), Rural Residential (RR1) and Rural 1 (RU1) Zones.
